Abstract

Liquid chromatography is increasingly being used on the preparative scale to isolate pure substances. The four different processing engineering concepts (elution, recycling, simulated counter-current, and annular chromatography) are compared with respect to different performance parameters for the separation of two isomers of a steriodal compound. In this paper, the experimental and simulated data for the various chromatographic systems are described and compared.
