Abstract

Pharmacologists and clinicians have always taken an interest in the disposition and fate of the drugs which they study, but the current enthusiasm for studies of plasma levels of psychotropic drugs in man originated in the mid-sixties, when Dr Bernard Brodie encouraged various workers, including myself, to investigate the idea that at least some interpatient and intrapatient variations in responses to psychotropic drugs might relate to variations in drug concentrations in body fluids
