studied the change in a homogeneous mixture of acetic acid, anhydride, and water, and showed that the reaction is by no means very rapid. Benrath (Zeitsch. physikal. Chern., 1909, 67, Sol), using molecular proportions of the same three substances, tried to follow the hydrolysis by determining the density.
