A new regiospecific synthesis of α,β-unsaturated ketones via acetylene derivatives

Abstract

The reaction of trialkylalkynylborate salts with benzeneselenenyl chloride, followed by selective oxidation, provides a new synthetic pathway from acetylenes to acyclic trans-α,β-unsaturated ketones. The method is especially useful for preparing unsymmetric acyclic enones which are difficultly accessible using current procedures.
