Calibration of the Watermark Model 200 Soil Moisture Sensor

Abstract

A mathematical model was developed which relates electrical resistance of the Watermark Model 200 soil moisture sensor to soil water tension and temperature. An instrument to read the sensor was designed and used along with soil water extraction equipment to perform calibration of the sensor. The designed instrument may also be used as an interface to soil moisture data acquisition systems or irrigation controllers.
