The nucleon mass is computed in the skyrmion model. Starting with a parameter-free nonlinear chiral Lagrangean containing the effects of heavy mesons ( \ensuremath{\rho},\ensuremath{\sigma},\ensuremath{\omega}), we find that the computed mass is a factor of 2 too large compared with the measured value.
