Abstract

Abstract Data obtained from spore trapping studies in the field and in controlled climate chambers indicated that leaf wetting was the most important factor controlling ascospore release in Mycosphaerella cryptica . Temperature was also important, no spores being released at <10°C or >30°C. There was no diurnal or nocturnal pattern of ascospore discharge.
