Abstract

Power trip! A new composite cathode for lithium–oxygen batteries is developed by using a highly mesoporous nitrogen-doped carbon blend and 20 wt % lithium aluminum germanium phosphate. This composite exhibits excellent electrochemical activity for oxygen reduction. The lithium–oxygen cell performance is an order of magnitude higher than that of cells with cathodes fabricated by using only carbon.
