The authors examine a new procedure for the termination of the continued-fraction coefficients produced by the recursion method which involves interpolating between computed and terminator coefficients. Densities of states for various analytic bands and for a real calculation are compared with standard termination and a considerable improvement is observed. A simple explanation and various applications of the method are proposed.
