Abstract In this paper, the investigations on the relations of structure to antifungal activity of sulphur compounds described in the previous publication of this series are extended to bisdithiocarbamates and isothiocyanates. The most active sulphur fungicide described in the literature so far, disodium ethylenebisdithiocarbamate, is surpassed by a new fungicide mentioned below, viz. ethylene diisothiocyanate. It is suggested that the antifungal action of bisdithiocarbamates is primarily attributable to the formation in situ of the corresponding diisothiocyanates.
