A relation between nitrogen desorption/mercury intrusion porosimetry‐measured pore size and green density of a powder compact is examined with respect to data from the literature, as well as data from the current study on three ceramic oxides. In almost all cases, the relationship is well obeyed. Deviations from the relation (originally developed by Kozeny) in the current study are shown to be due to the presence of large, interagglomerate pores which persist during low‐pressure pressing. Thus, a powder compact's adherence to the Kozeny relation can be used to gauge its degree of packing homogeneity.
