Abstract

Few texts contain the tremendous breadth of up-to-date information presented in this third revised edition of<i>Unwanted Effects of Cosmetics and Drugs Used in Dermatology</i>. The book opens with a thorough discussion of traditional irritant and allergic contact dermatitis as well as patch test placement and interpretation. Discussions on less commonly observed unwanted product effects include phototoxic and photoallergic contact dermatitis, contact urticaria, acne and folliculitis, discoloration of the skin and appendages, and cutaneous stinging. The remaining pages are devoted to assessing side effects caused by topical and systemic medications used by dermatologists and cosmeticians for the hair, skin, and nails.
