Abstract

One of the most risky maneuvers in suburban roads containing one lane for each direction is overtaking another vehicle which caused a large number of accidents and fatalities. Although, the single overtaking task counts as hazardous action, it becomes more challenging while involving in hybrid scenarios with comprising various factors. This paper presents an intelligent driver assistant system in scenarios performing overtaking maneuver of a long vision obstructing vehicle as a frontrunner with a probability of another vehicle in front with obstacle likelihood on the road. The principal of this system is to reduce the risk of overtaking maneuver in a hybrid scenario cases by using wireless technology based on Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) to optimize driver's behavior in high risk situations with guidance for making proper decision in case of performing safe overtaking action.
