Abstract 2-Aryl-5-phenyltriazolo[4,5-d]triazoles and related compounds, a new heteroaromatic system, have been prepared from 4,5-diamino-2-phenyl-1,2,3-triazole. The meso-ionic character of the new ring system is discussed on the basis of proton NMR shifts.
