Atypical fibroxanthoma with prominent sclerosis

Abstract

Rarely, AFX may exhibit marked sclerosis with areas of complete replacement of tumor by hyalinized collagen. In a small biopsy, such hyalinization may be a diagnostic pitfall leading to an erroneous diagnosis.
