A facile solvothermal method has been developed for the synthesis of α-Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/ZnO nanocomposites that show enhanced sensitivity, selectivity and fast response–recovery toward<italic>n</italic>-butanol at a working temperature of 225 °C.
