A note on the significance of the neck organ of <i>Leptodora kindtii</i> (Focke) (Crustacea, Cladocera)

On the basis of ultrastructural comparisons between the neck organ of Leptodora and similarly located structures in other branchiopod crustaceans, it is suggested that the organ is involved in ion transport rather than respiration, as has previously been suggested.
