Abstract— Serine transhydroxymethylase in extracts from mouse brain declines in specific activity during the first 2 weeks of postnatal life. This decrease in potential for synthesis of methylene tetrahydrofolate from serine is most probably compatible with the declining postnatal rates of protein and nucleic acid synthesis.
