ABSTRACT Frictional pressure loss calculations in narrow annuli of slim-hole and coiled tubing operations require more accuracy than before. The paper describes a method to calculate pressure losses that better represents actual annular configurations. The skewed (vertical wells, varying eccentricity) and uniformly eccentric (deviated wells) geometries are addressed. Easy to use realistic correlations are obtained for laminar, transition and turbulent flow regimes. Experimental flow loop data validate model predictions. A step-by-step procedure is included for field calculations.
