complex rosettes suggests that local modulation of, e.g. Ca 2+ infl ux may take place within a rosette. The information carried by a mossy fi bre show a large degree of divergence, since each rosette may contact up to more than 100 granule cells This makes it of interest to analyse whether the input to the granule cells is uniform or can be modulated by localised changes in presynaptic rosette function within a glomerulus.
