Sodium metrizoate 75 per cent is a new water soluble contrast medium which we have used in selective angiocardiography in 162 cases involving 187 injections. This compound forms a clear and stable solution at room temperature and appears to have a low toxicity, no greater than Hypaque 85%. It has a high iodine content and a low viscosity. Sodium metrizoate has shown certain advantages over the contrast media we have previously used for angiocardiography. High flow rates have been achieved with Triosil 75% resulting in a great improvement in the quality of the angiocardiograms when small catheters have been used.
