Influence of Soil Temperature on Transpiration Under Various Environmental Conditions¹

Abstract

Synopsis Soil temperature had a significant influence on transpiration. In growth chambers, variations in air temperature and relative humidity had little influence on transpiration when the soil temperature was low. Under the experimental conditions, low soil temperature was a major factor in controlling transpiration rates.
