State of polarisation and phase noise independent coherent optical transmission system based on Stokes parameter detection

Abstract

A novel detection scheme for polarisation modulation is proposed. It is independent of the polarisation fluctuations of the received signal and is greatly insensitive to phase noise, allowing the use of powerful lasers whose linewidth is not compatible with traditional system requirements.
