We report on an efficient Er3+-doped Lu1.5Y1.5Al5O12 (Er:LuYAG) laser operating at either 1648 or 1620 nm depending on the transmission of output coupling mirror. By using a high-power Er,Yb-doped fiber laser wavelength-locked at 1532 nm as the pump source and an output coupler of 10% transmission, the laser yielded 5.2 W of continuous-wave output power at 1648 nm under 13 W of incident pump power, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 43%, while for an output coupler of 15% transmission, 3.3 W of output power at 1620 nm was obtained corresponding to an incident slope efficiency of 30%.
