Abstract

Cartilaginous implants preformed from autologous mesenchymal stem cells seeded onto biodegradable scaffold can prevent carpal collapse. The newly formed osteochondral tissue appears to function as an adequate biologic lunate spacer for at least twelve weeks in this animal model.
