SUMMARY.– Injury of the epidermis by various types of trauma stimulates the growth of new vessels in the injured areas. The morphology of the new vessels is the same as that of the vessels already present in the area prior to injury. Thus new vessels formed in normal skin, naevus flammeus, plaques of psoriasis or in areas of pigmented purpuric dermatoses show features characteristic of those disorders and are not necessarily influenced by a tendency to form different patterns in other areas.
