The Northern States Power Co. intelligent power system alarm processor (IAP) has been in operation for four months. The operators have already begun to ask for additional functions that can make their task easier. A review is presented of the design tradeoffs, the hardware and software solutions to the implementation, and the testing and performance of the IAP.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
