ABSTRACT A profile meter for measuring linear profiles of stabil-ized sand surfaces was designed and constructed. A series of height measurements was obtained using a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) as the sensing element. A stepper motor and gear train provid-ed the incremental step size between elevations. Data collection, recording and processing were performed using analog and digital computers in a fully automatic operation.
