Abstract Ozonolysis of 3-phospholene oxides cleanly opens the double bond and provides bis(β-oxoalkyl) phosphine oxides. Aldol condensation can be effected with p-toluenesulfonic acid to give 1,6-dihydro-3(2H)phosphorinone derivatives. The four new members of this family were characterized by 31P and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
