Abstract

Three-component Mannich-type reactions of aldehydes, amines, and ketones were efficiently catalyzed by dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid at ambient temperature in water to give various β-amino ketones in good yields. The same reactions proceeded sluggishly in organic solvents.
