Severe thrombocytopenia developed in a young man following the ingestion of quinine water. Quinine‐dependent antiplatelet antibodies were found in both IgM and IgG components of the patient's immunoglobulins. The data demonstrate that drug‐related antiplatelet activity is not a unique property of 7 S gamma globulins, and that both IgM and IgG antibodies may occur simultaneously in drug‐related thrombocytopenia.
