After injection of 0.1mg of synthetic luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LH-RH), levels of FSH and/or LH rise significantly in the serum of normal prepubertal children. LH-RH stimulation may be used to evaluate pituitary gonadotropic reserve in prepubertal patients with various hypothalamo-hypophysial and gonadal disorders.
