Public Health: 'Natural' Cancer Prevention Trial Halted

Abstract

Hopes that beta carotene might prevent cancer were dashed last week when two large trials showed that the dietary supplement is at best ineffective. One large trial even suggested that it may raise cancer rates in some groups. Researchers are now struggling to explain the findings.
