Abstract

Dr. Burstone is one of the more active contributors to the field of enzymatic histochemistry, both in developing and applying new and original techniques. He has now gathered together in this book his own experience and that of the many others in the field to produce a well-printed, clear and concise description of current enzymatic methods in histochemistry. Many results of the applications of these techniques, particularly in regard to neoplasia, are described. Illustrations, many in color, are plentiful and excellent. After preliminary chapters on fixation and embedding procedures and on the methods by which enzymes can be demonstrated in tissue sections, special chapters are devoted to the phosphatases, esterases, sulfatases, glycosidases, transglycosylases, proteolytic enzymes, oxidases, and dehydrogenases. There is a chapter on the newer field that applies
