Represantatives of a novel type of σ-organocobalt(III) complex including both a tridentate and a bidentate ligand, viz. salts of alkyl-mer-[N-(2-amino-ethyl)-7-methylsalicylideneaminato](ethylenediamine)-cobalt (1+) have been prepaed and characterized; the structure of the ethylcobalt cation being detrmined by an X-ray study of its bromide.
