Abstract

The relaxation tail of wave profiles in the ferroin-catalysed Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction was analysed combined with calculations on the basis of a slightly modified Oregonator model. The frequently used rate constant for the reaction between ferriin and the organic substrates malonic acid and bromomalonic acid was determined at 25°C as k J =(3.1±0.2)×10 -5 s -1 .
