New cationic clathrate: synthesis and structure of [Si40P6]I6.5

Abstract

The [Si40P6]I6.5 cationic clathrate possessing the type-I clathrate structure with a minimal known unit-cell volume and a remarkably high vacancy concentration in the guest sublattice was synthesised.
