Abstract A one year research effort was launched to investigate the internal impedances and coupling impedances within the public low‐voltage network in the frequency range from 2 kHz to 9 kHz. At 250 different nodes, roughly 6000 impedance measurements were carried out. In this paper, the measurement method and the equipment used are described and a new “wireless” method for measuring coupling impedances between distant nodes is presented. The most important results of the measurements are also summarized.
