Electrodeposition of thin layers with thicknesses between 40nm and 700nm of cobalt, samarium and cobalt-samarium was carried out in the ionic liquid 1-butyl- 1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide, [P1,4]-TFSA, The precursors for electrodeposition were tailor-made Co(TFSA)2 and Sm(TFSA)3 metal salts. We could show that by increasing the temperature the quality of the deposited layers improved significantly. Moreover, the deposition potential influences strongly the morphology of the deposits.
