Electromagnetically induced inhibition of two-photon absorption in sodium vapor

We report the observation of the electromagnetically induced inhibition of two-photon absorption with atomic sodium vapor as a test medium. A 60% reduction of two-photon resonant absorption was recorded at the $3S\ensuremath{-}4D$ transition when a cw coupling laser was applied at the $3P\ensuremath{-}5S$ transition.
