The first paper in this section from Burlington Massachusetts describes the authors’ experience with thrombin sealant, perhaps allowing nephron‐sparing surgery without renal artery occlusion. They describe their technique and initial results. Authors from Mannheim describe how they validate computer‐based training in ureteroscopy. This is particularly important at present, where increasingly trainees are being assessed on computer models. Obviously, all of these computer‐based methods must be carefully validated before used practically. Finally, there are two papers which describe how CT can aid in the management of urinary calculi either by PCNL or by ESWL.
