Ion Acoustic Shock Waves

Abstract

The one-dimensional hydrodynamic equations for an ion sound system (cold ions, isothermal massless electrons) are solved numerically to study the behavior of nonlinear ion sound waves, in particular, the formation and interaction of shock waves.
