Abstract

These results suggest that arginine vasopressin has a suppressive effect on DNA synthesis in rat aortic smooth muscle cells by inhibiting progression from the late G1 into the S phase of the cell cycle through the synthesis of PGE2 and PGI2, and that protein kinase C acts as an amplifier of this mechanism.
