Spontaneous alternation was studied in the maze behavior of five adult Virginia opossums ( Didelphus virginiana). The two male and three female opossums were given massed trials in a T-maze and were found to alternate significantly. The data were interpreted as supporting the generality of the spontaneous alternation phenomenon.
