The ferroic and electroactive properties of the recently identified ferroelectrets are based on the quasi‐permanent internal electric charging of the cellular structure in polymer foams. Drawing on the wealth of expertise and insight that was obtained on cellular polypropylene (PP) and in particular on structure‐property relations that were established for PP, foamed polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) is for the first time demonstrated as a possible alternative ferroelectret with a significantly different range of applications‐relevant properties than PP.
