Abstract A palladium‐catalyzed reaction of N , N ‐dimethyl‐2‐alkynylanilines with isocyanides is reported, leading to the formation of 3‐cyanoindoles and 3‐amidylindoles. The isocyanide insertion is the key step during the process, and the presence of water is essential for the formation of 3‐amidylindoles. magnified image
