Twenty-two patients with a history of an adverse reaction to a paste bandage were investigated by patch testing. Thirteen patients showed reactions to some components of the bandages; the paraben preservatives were the most frequent sensitizers. Testing with the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group standard series was a satisfactory screening procedure.
