Abstract

Although no definite proof is available, our observations covering 6 years suggest that re- peated attacks of streptococcal pharyngitis oc- curring in the same individual are usually due to Group A streptococci of different types. Re- infection with the same type was never observed, suggesting that type-specific immunity may de- velop. At the present time, however, serological evidence of such immunity is meager.
