Abstract The effect of water‐soluble polymers and polymer emulsions upon the physico‐chemical properties of silt‐loam aggregates has been tested. The efficiency of soluble polymers depends on their concentration and molecular weight. Polymer emulsions induce hydrophobocity of soil surfaces. Waste lignosulphonates appear attractive at reducing soil water evaporation.
