Abstract

Alice in Wonderland syndrome (AIWS) refers to distortions in body images and in the apparent size, shape, and spatial relations of objects seen. The authors present a 7-year-old girl diagnosed with AIWS. Fifteen days after she had had an upper respiratory tract infection and tonsillitis, she began to complain of several episodes in which the objects and the people around her seemed too small or too big. Brain SPECT with Tc-99m HMPAO performed during the acute stage of AIWS showed hypoperfusion in the right frontal and the right frontoparietal regions.
